Environment - Driving Green Innovation and Stewardship
We aim to lead the transition to a low-carbon economy by investing in clean technologies, reducing emissions and improving resource efficiency across our diversified business segments.
Climate Action & Emissions Reduction:
Guided by Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050, we actively reduce our carbon footprint through initiatives such as hydrogen buses, fleet electrification and energy-efficient infrastructure. Our transport subsidiary Citybus launched the world's first three-axle hydrogen fuel cell double-decker bus in 2024. We also introduced Hong Kong's first electric double-decker bus and first hydrogen refuelling station in 2022 and 2023 respectively. We are committed to achieving a fully zero-emission fleet by 2045.
Environmental Management Systems:
Our operations are ISO 14001 certified, with robust systems for air pollution control, wastewater management and hazardous waste handling. Our terminal storage business, Dongzhou International, employs advanced volatile organic compound (VOC) control technology and nitrogen-sealing systems to reduce emissions.
Resource Efficiency:
We promote energy-saving practices at our offices and depots, including LED lighting, motion sensors and solar panels. Water conservation is achieved through pipeline upgrades, leak detection and water-reuse systems.
Biodiversity & Sustainable Materials:
We prioritise environmentally friendly materials in our procurement, such as PVC-free advertising paper and synthetic lubricants to reduce waste. Our advertising business supports circular economy principles through recycling and digitalisation.
